Our iSiS-LC systems are future-oriented level crossing safety systems, built from high-quality industry-standard components and complemented by field elements specially developed for railway applications – light signal heads, barrier drives and track switching equipment. The use of proven industrial and railway technology components ensures high reliability and long-term availability.
iSiS-LC is designed to reduce both the investment costs and, sustainably, the life-cycle costs of a level crossing system. The core element is the main controller – a safety-oriented programmable logic controller (PLC), configured with two or more channels depending on the required safety level, which handles all control and monitoring tasks: activating and monitoring light signals and barriers, activating the driver indication signals, monitoring the voltage supply, the manual control logic, and evaluating the axle counters.
For signalling, iSiS-LC uses low-power, dual-channel monitored LED signals. The electromechanical barrier drives with durable, low-maintenance motors are controlled via the main controller; redundantly operating sensors continuously monitor the position of the barriers.
To safely record train movements and subsequently activate and deactivate the system, iSiS-LC uses wheel sensors for axle counting in combination with specially implemented algorithms.
For connection to other systems – such as interlockings or traffic light signal systems – iSiS-LC supports both safety-oriented IP-based protocols and parallel interfaces. The connection can be made directly at the level crossing or remotely via a remote monitoring controller.
The system records all events, errors and faults, and provides extensive diagnostic functions via a built-in Panel PC with a user-friendly touchscreen.
All components are designed for an extended temperature range and can be installed in outdoor cabinets. A proven lightning protection concept reliably protects against overvoltages – both the SIL4 and SIL2 architectures safely handle all individual faults, consistently following the fail-safe principle of EN 50129.
The low energy consumption not only reduces running costs, but in special design variants also enables the grid-autonomous supply of a level crossing with solar panels and buffer batteries.
SIL4 (Safety Integrity Level 4) is the highest safety level under the European standard EN 50129. iSiS-LC is developed to the CENELEC standards EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129 and approved up to SIL4 – the safety architecture is adaptable and also available in SIL2.
Yes. The low energy consumption of iSiS-LC enables, in special design variants, the grid-autonomous supply of a level crossing with solar panels and buffer batteries – particularly suitable for remote locations without an existing grid connection.
iSiS-LC is suitable for main lines, regional railways, industrial railways, as well as heritage and seasonal railways. The flexible system concept adapts to different operational requirements.
Yes. iSiS-LC supports both safety-oriented IP-based protocols and parallel interfaces, and can be connected either directly at the level crossing or remotely via a remote monitoring controller.
